Medical doctors (GMC) and non-dental clinicians are regulated by their respective professional bodies. GDC registration applies to dental practitioners only.
The General Dental Council is the UK's regulator for dental professionals. Its purpose is to protect the public by setting and maintaining standards for dental care across the country.
The GDC sets the standards all dental professionals must meet and can investigate concerns about fitness to practise.
All registered professionals must complete ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to maintain their registration.
Anyone can check whether a dental professional is registered using the free GDC Online Register at any time.
The GDC has the authority to investigate complaints about dental professionals and, where necessary, restrict or remove registration.
To confirm that any of our clinicians is currently registered with the GDC, visit the GDC Online Register and search by name. Registration is renewed annually and must be current for a practitioner to work legally in the UK.
