Part 1 & Part 2 Coaching
In a Real Clinical Environment

The LDS is a rigorous two-part examination. Many candidates underestimate Part 1's breadth or arrive at Part 2 unprepared for the UK clinical communication standard. Our programme addresses both — with content tailored to your Royal College pathway.

LDS Part 1 — Written Coaching

MCQ, EMQ and short-answer practice covering human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, dental materials, human disease, behavioural sciences and clinical dentistry. Timed papers with full mark scheme review.

Clinical Examination Technique

Structured extra-oral and intra-oral examination to UK standards: lymph node assessment, TMJ, soft tissue screening, charting — practised on mannequins and observed on real patients in our private surgeries.

Treatment Planning

Complex case treatment planning, risk assessment, evidence-based decision making and presenting options to patients in a way that satisfies UK examiners. Priority sequencing and consent documentation.

Hands-On Clinical Skills

Cavity preparation, composite placement, LA technique, BPE, radiograph interpretation — practised on dental mannequins in our fully-equipped private surgeries. Live observation of actual patient procedures.

UK Communication & Consent

Patient communication in the UK context, Montgomery consent ruling, history-taking, explaining treatment options clearly and managing anxious patients — role-played and critiqued by our trainers.

Full Mock OSCE Circuit

Timed mock OSCE stations replicating the Part 2 format of your chosen Royal College. Written examiner feedback after each station, plus an overall performance report and action plan.

The Real Clinic Advantage
for LDS Candidates

Most LDS preparation courses are run in converted classrooms with phantom heads borrowed from dental schools. At The Yardley Clinic, training happens in our active private surgeries — the same rooms where real patients are treated every day.

This matters enormously for Part 2. You develop clinical confidence in a genuine working environment, observe real procedures, and become familiar with the equipment, layout and pace of a UK dental surgery — giving you an edge that no classroom can provide.

Yes. We offer combined Part 1 and Part 2 programmes for candidates who are preparing for both stages. We can also focus exclusively on one part if you have already passed the other.

Neither is objectively harder — they test similar competencies. The LDS Part 1 places more emphasis on basic sciences and includes EMQs and short answers, whereas the ORE Part 1 is MCQ-only. The Part 2 clinical formats are broadly comparable. Your best choice depends on your background, sitting dates and which Royal College pathway suits you.

All LDS packages are priced on application (POA). The cost depends on whether you need Part 1, Part 2 or both, your current stage of preparation and your exam date. Contact us for a no-obligation discussion.
